Milestones

Peyton is 2 months old! Here are a few new milestones we've discovered!

#1. THE SMILE!
I was thrilled when Peyton began smiling. I joke now that I live for those moments. They are no longer so few and far between, however, and she has begun to give her smiles on a more regular basis :) She even laughed for the first time this past week! Funniest thing ever... we were watching a comedian named Brian Regan and everyone was laughing... and suddenly I heard "heh, heh, heh" and I look down and Peyton is full out laughing! I think she heard everyone else laughing and wanted to join in the fun ;)

#2. PLAYING WITH TOYS
I love this milestone, because it means a little more free time for momma! Peyton loves playing in the bouncy seat, or on the floor in her play-gym or even just sitting up in her boppy. It's great to keep her occupied while I get dressed or take a shower, or even if I just need a hands-free moment! It's also fun to see her begin to take things in... and I know her education is beginning!

#3. HOLDING HER HEAD UP
Peyton has begun (key word here, 'begun') holding her head up. It makes her easier to handle and it's exciting to see her gain strength. She's such a beautiful little girl and to see her fight and zest for life is inspiring. When I think about the cholestasis, and how there was such a good chance for her to be still born, I am so amazed at not only the goodness of God, but also at little Peyton's conquering spirit. She's so small and so delicate... but she is so strong and so passionate. She is truly an amazing person and I am so blessed to know her and to be given the opportunity to raise her. I must keep reminding myself to always bring out the best in her.

#4. SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT
I never thought I would be able to survive parenthood at first when sleep was a distant memory. Thankfully now Peyton sleeps through the night for the most part. She does get up at least once to eat but it's usually a quick 10 or 15 minute feeding and then she's out again. Mommy and Daddy appreciate this milestone far above the rest! It's saved us! Those first weeks were incredible, but I wouldn't go back to those rough sleepless nights even if you paid me to! (P.S. She's sleeping in Cousin Norah's bed in this picture!)

#5. "TALKING"
Peyton has found her voice! Her sweet coo's and squeals are delightful! I love hearing her "speak" and it's so fun when you talk to her and she responds! Her voice is just beautiful! I don't have a picture for this one, but here are a few shots: (P.S. For those I haven't talked to in a while, Peyton is now 2 months and a week old... she just hit 8 pounds... yes, she's still tiny but she's my little fighter!)
