Pre Term Labor, Hospitalization & Bed Rest

Yep. You read it right. Those are the things my weekend were full of! Jealous, aren't you?! ;)

On Thursday afternoon I went to my OB for a regular check up. While there, I mentioned that I had had a few contractions that past weekend, but wasn't too worried. They decided to check my cervix--the doctor found that I was already dilated and effaced. She immediately sent me to the hospital.

Once I was admitted to the Labor & Delivery Unit it was confirmed that I was having alot of contractions (even though I wasn't feeling them!) and that I was in pre-term labor. I was administered a steroid shot to mature my babys lungs and was begun on medication to stop my labor.

I had to stay in the hospital for 3 nights and 4 days to continue being monitored and also to continue the medication I was being given. Finally on Sunday I released. I had dilated very little more while in the hospital, but thankfully contractions had slowed down due to the medication.

I am now on strict bed rest until I am 35 weeks pregnant, at which time I'll be given more freedom becuase that would be a safer time for my little girl to come into this world.

I know that was a whirlwind update... and if you'd like more details, feel free to email and ask :) My head is still spinning from everything, so I might post a more detailed account of what went on a little later... but for now I just wanted to keep you all in the loop.

Until further notice, I"ll be here. On my couch.

I can't even lift Peyton... it's sooo hard but I am thankful for Doctors who take precautions like this so that my sweet baby girl inside of me can stay safe. My mom is taking care of me while my husband is at work... and I feel very blessed to live so close to her where she can help in this difficult time.

I promise to write more later when my head isn't aching....

Oh my goodness, that's scary! I'm glad your doctors caught it so you can take the necessary precautions. I'll be praying that little one will be good and stay in there a while longer!
